Pre-launch Starting in Toronto

Ship it to the shop down the street.

Dropo is a neighbourhood parcel-holding network. Have your deliveries sent to a nearby café, corner store or bookshop instead of a porch or a shared lobby. They hold it, you get a pickup code, and you collect it when you’re passing.

Residents: never lose a parcel again. Shops: earn from your back shelf.

Illustration: a delivery van drops a parcel at the café, a map pin pops up above the shop, a neighbour’s phone buzzes with a pickup code, and they walk over from their apartment building to collect it.

Which side of the counter are you on?

Showing how Dropo works for residents.

The problem

Not every front door can take a delivery.

No concierge, a shared lobby, a porch you can see from the street, a schedule that never matches the courier’s. Parcels are easy to send and surprisingly hard to receive.

  • The missed-delivery slip

You were at work. Or in the shower. The courier tried once, left a card, and now your parcel is on a schedule that isn’t yours.

  • The porch, the lobby

A parcel sitting where anyone can see it is a parcel that might not be there when you get home. Shared lobbies and exposed porches are a gamble.

  • The trek to a far-off depot

When the card says “collect from the depot,” it’s usually across the city, open at awkward hours, and nowhere near your day.

How it works

Three steps. One shop you already like.

For residents

  1. Pick a Dropo spot

Choose a participating shop on your way to work, the subway or the park. Use its address, with your personal Dropo name, when you check out online.

  2. They scan it in

When your parcel arrives, the shop scans it in and your phone buzzes with a pickup code. No more guessing which day it will show up.

  3. Collect it when you’re passing

Show your code and ID, collect your parcel, and carry on with your day. Maybe grab a coffee while you’re there.

For shops

  1. Say yes, on your terms

Become a Dropo spot and tell us how many parcels you can comfortably hold, and what size you’ll accept. You set the limits.

  2. Scan parcels in

When a parcel arrives, scan it in with the phone you already own and put it on the back shelf. The neighbour gets their pickup code automatically.

  3. Hand over, get paid

Check the code, scan the parcel out, and earn a fee for each one you held. Neighbours stop by, and some stay for a coffee.

For residents

Why neighbours will like it

  • Nobody has to be home

Your parcel goes somewhere with a person behind a counter, not onto a doorstep or into a shared lobby.

  • On your route

Pick a spot you already pass: next to the transit stop, on the way to the park, around the corner from work.

  • A code, not a card

You’ll know when it arrives and have a clear code to collect it. No guessing, no chasing a depot.

  • Good for the block

Your parcel pickup becomes a small reason to visit a local business that’s trying to stay in the neighbourhood.

For shops

Why shops like it

  • Foot traffic that knows your name

Every pickup is a neighbour walking through your door. Some will browse. Some will order a flat white.

  • Nothing to buy but a phone

No scanner, no kiosk, no software licence. If you have a smartphone, you have the equipment.

  • You choose your capacity

Hold five a day or fifty. Say no to the oversized stuff. It’s your counter and your back shelf.

For shops

Sketch your back shelf.

Slide to match a typical day at your counter. This is a back-of-the-napkin picture, not a promise.

Illustrative monthly earnings

$234 / month

≈ 250 neighbours through your door each month

Uses an example fee of $0.75 per parcel held, and assumes some neighbours collect more than one parcel per visit.

Illustrative — final fees are set at launch.

Safety & trust

Designed so a parcel never just vanishes into a back room.

This is how Dropo is designed to work. Final details are confirmed before launch.

  • A code and an ID check at pickup

Parcels are handed over against your pickup code, with an ID check, so they go to the person they were sent to.

  • Logged in, logged out

Each parcel is scanned in when it arrives and scanned out when it leaves, so there’s a record of where it is.

  • Shops can say no to big stuff

Shops set their own limits and can decline oversized or awkward items. A back shelf is not a warehouse.

Questions

Good questions, honest answers.

For residents

How do I get a parcel to a Dropo spot?

You’ll choose a nearby spot and use its address, plus your personal Dropo name, at online checkout. The shop scans the parcel in when it arrives and you get a pickup code.

What will it cost me?

Pricing isn’t set yet and we’ll share it before launch. Joining the waitlist doesn’t ask for payment.

What if the shop is closed when I’m free?

You’ll pick up during the shop’s opening hours, so choosing a spot that suits your routine is the point. Hours will be shown when you choose.

Can any parcel go to a Dropo spot?

Shops can decline oversized or awkward items, so there will be limits on size and weight. We’ll confirm the details before launch.

For shops

What do I need to take part?

A smartphone and a bit of shelf space. You scan parcels in and out with your phone, with no other equipment.

How do I get paid?

The plan is a fee for each parcel you hold. The amounts aren’t set yet, and the earnings sketch above uses an example fee only. Final fees are set at launch.

How much space does it take?

That’s up to you. You choose how many parcels you hold at a time and can decline anything oversized.

What about damage or loss?

Responsibilities and any coverage will be set out in the agreement shops see before they join. We won’t ask you to sign up without it in front of you.

For everyone

Is Dropo live yet?

No. Dropo is pre-launch and starting in Toronto. There’s no launch date to share yet, and the waitlist is how we decide where to start.

What happens after I sign up?

We’ll get in touch about Dropo as your neighbourhood gets closer to launch. If you run a shop, we’ll talk about what being a spot involves before you commit to anything.

I manage a building. Is this for me?

Possibly. If your residents struggle to receive parcels, choose “Building / property manager” in the form and tell us about the building.

Early access

Get on the list.

One form for everyone. Residents join the waitlist, shops become a Dropo spot, and building managers tell us where parcels are a headache.

  • Tell us who you are and where you are.
  • The longest waitlists decide where we start.
  • No payment. We’ll only write about Dropo.
